Rick Saunders to take on Development Officer role

Dec 12, 2022

Sqn Ldr (Retd) Rick Saunders has agreed to take on the UKAF ACO Development Officer role with immediate effect.  Rick will take on the role from FS Martin Seward, who is currently assigned overseas for a lengthy period.

In his recent update, Chair Capt. Christian Nicholson stated, “One area which has seen a little less success this past season, however, has been Development.

“Many of you know our Development Officer, FS Martin Seward (Seaweed) is currently assigned overseas. He is likely to be away from home soil for some time and having spoken to him last week, feels he cannot offer the full support you as members require and so has stood down while he remains in Cyprus. He has done a sterling job for us all before he headed East while also being an excellent official and I thank him deeply for all he has given UKAF ACO and I’m sure I echo the sentiments of you all in that regard.

“To ensure Development moves on over the winter I have asked our long and valued colleague, Sqn Ldr (Retd) Rick Saunders to take up the mantle of Development officer until the AGM when we will formally vote in the post. I am delighted (and grateful) to report he has accepted.

“Rick continues to ply his trade in UKAF and Wiltshire cricket and is involved in the committee there, too. A member of UKAF ACO and RAFCUSA for many years he knows our Association and our people very well and there are few better to keep us on the right track. Thank you, Rick and I look forward to working closely in taking our beloved Association forward and bringing the best of development to our members.

“Thank you again to Rick for agreeing to take up the Development post over the winter and I look forward to seeing you all at the AGM in the Spring.”
